INQ Cloud Touch Phone

Key Features
  • Android 2.2
  • UI optimised for Facebook
  • 5-megapixel camera
  • 4GB microSD card
  • 3.5in 360x480 pixel screen
Design
The INQ Cloud Touch is a cute little handset, there's no doubt about that. Covered in a rounded plastic chassis that comes in red and white, the phone feels a little light in the hand, but nothing too bad. The design ethos is clearly cheerful and chirpy, and the smooth edges and large front icons certainly help facilitate that.

The front of the phone houses three touch-sensitive buttons (Menu, Home and Back), although there's no front-facing camera to speak of. But it's on the sides that INQ has decided to place its innovative keys, and we're big fans.

On the top left-hand side, a flush key sits with a small 'i' icon on - this is the info key that delivers pertinent information when pressed from any point in the phone. It's a nice touch, and easy to use no matter how you're holding the phone; plus it has a smooth pressing action.

The top of the INQ Cloud Touch has the microUSB slot (uncovered), 3.5mm headphone jack and power/lock key. We always like to see a cap for our charger slot (after the horrific breakfast jam tragedy of 2009) and the power button is a little hard to hit as it's part of the curved chassis. It's not terrible, but it does feel a little small.

The volume rocker switch is on the top right-hand side of the phone, and is easy to operate, although as it's flush it can be hard to hit in the pocket. Below it lives the media key, which is another nifty bit of innovation.
Pressing it will open up the Spotify player, giving you easy access to your music or the full Spotify experience (depending on whether you're a Premium user or not). The INQ Cloud Touch is the first phone to bring an offline Spotify experience (ie you don't need to pay £9.99 a month to use the app), and it's good to see access is hardwired to the phone.

The rear of the Cloud Touch looks similarly cutesy - the camera sensor has a plastic ring around it to look oversized, next to a speaker grille with the same dimensions to offer an experience that looks ever so slightly like a face. Weird, but kind of cool if you like Hello Kitty merchandise.

Overall, the INQ Cloud Touch feels nice in the hand - it sits well and the 3.5-inch screen, with WVGA resolution, looks clear and is easy to reach. It doesn't pack a weighty, premium feel, but it does have a lot of style and will appeal to many looking for a cheaper phone.

Apple MacBook Air

The latestmost expected product from Apple, the Apple MacBook Air has arrived markinganother step forward in Apple’s day-by-day rising utopia in the computer world.

Part of theMacBook Air trademark is its’ solid-state design, which means no moving parts suchas an optical drive or a hard disk, thus resulting the flat profile that thelaptop has. This is not a very good news though because of two importantreasons: first, the mass storage chip form that costs a great deal more thanthe conventional hard disk and, second, because most of us are not ready to throwaway our CDs and DVDs quite yet. So due to the lack of an optical drive youjust have to do the best with the 2 USB 2.0 ports, a card reader and an audiosocket. You may need to appeal to your desktop system or maybe the biggerbrother of the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro, if you want to play a game or usePhotoshop for example.

Inconclusion, the Air, is a very good computer if Facebook is your thing, or justusing it for office work, or just listen to music and play a movie. The Lion OShas a pretty good design and works good too. But if you like doing more thanthat you might want to try the MacBook Pro for example. At a starting price of1000$ you can say it’s a bit expensive thinking at want you can do with it, butnever the less it’s a remarkable example of what the future of “laptoping”looks like.

HTC ChaCha

The ChaCha is the “Facebook  phone “ from HTC. It has a 2.6inch Android-powerd touchscreen. You can upload up to 5MP pictures and QWERTY keyboard it’s really cool and nice to use for your texting. Still this may not impress hardcore Facebook fans who may still prefer an iPhone, but there must be said the ChaCha is no looser either.

Nokia X7

The new Nokia X7 represents the result of the cooperation between Nokia and Microsoft. The X7 has installed the new version of Symbian called Anna. It also has faster web browsing (with Flash) and a portrait QWERTY keyboard.

The chassis is stainless steel and glass –which means it outruns the iPhone in the desirability stakes -  and comes in only two color options : ‘dark steel’ and ‘light steel’.

The X7 may not have the numberless apps like the iPhone but it’s got the bases covered. It has, among others, Facebook, Twitter and free Ovi Navigation turn-by-turn voice directions.

The camera is, as Nokia spoiled us, one of the best you can find on a smart phone. It shoots 8 MP pictures and 720p videos with a dual LED flash, but unlike the N8 it has no HDMI output for watching on TV.

The screen is AMOLED with a resolution of 640x360 which is very good to watch a movie or play a gay, but is no compare to the iPhone’s 960x640 Retina Display.

Overall the Nokia X7 is one of the best  smart phone and an extremely serious competitor on the market.
